The Dallas County cities of Adel and Dallas Center were recently recognized with a Tree city USA Award earlier this year. 

Adel and Dallas Center were recognized with Tree City USA awards at the Urban Forestry Luncheon earlier this year on behalf of the Arbor Day Foundation and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources as cities that demonstrate dedication to the importance of trees in their communities. 

To qualify for this award the city must either have a city forester or an active city tree board, have a tree ordinance, spend at least $2 per capita annually for its community forestry program and have a tree planting and maintenance plan.
