Marjukka Tepponen, Piotr Buszewski & Flurina Stucki Lead Oper Graz’s 2022-23 Season

Oper Graz has announced its 2022-23 season featuring numerous new productions and ensemble members.

Britten’s War Requiem will be directed by Lorenzo Fioroni and conducted by Roland Kluttig and Nicolas Ellis. Flurina Stucki, Matthias Koziorowski, Mario Lerchenberger, and Markus Butter.

Performance Dates: Sept. 24-Nov. 20, 2022

Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” will be directed by Floris Visser and conducted by Gábor Káli. Marjukka Tepponen, Mykhailo Malafii, Mareike Jankowski, Neven Crnić, and Dariusz Perczak star. Francesco Angelico and Marius Burkert also conduct.

Performance Dates: Oct. 15-Jan. 18, 2023

Verdi’s “La Traviata” will be revived in Peter Konwitschny and conducted by Matteo Beltrami.

Performance Dates: Oct. 27-Nov. 19, 2022

Smetana’s “Die verkaufte Braut” will be directed by Adriana Altaras. Tetiana Miyus, Sieglinde Feldhofer, Matthias Koziorowski, Mario Lerchenberger, Thomas Essl, Markus Butter, Anna Brull, and Mareike Jankowski. Roland Kluttig and Marius Burkert conduct.

Performance Dates: Nov. 26, 2022-March 22, 2023

Kurt Weill’s “Ein Hauch von Venus (One Touch of Venus)” will star Dionne Wudu, SavoryIvan Oreščanin, Monika Staszak, Christof Messner, Regina Schörg, Corina Koller, Benjamin Rufin, and Ricardo Frenzel Baudisch. Magdalena Fuchsberger directs and Marcus Merkel conducts.

Performance Dates: Dec. 17, 2022-March 30, 2023

Offenbach’s “Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein” will be directed by Peter Lund and will star Mareike Jankowski, Anna Brull, Alexander Kaimbacher, Sieglinde Feldhofer, Martin Fournier, Wilfried Zelinka, Neven Crnić, Ivan Oreščanin, Dariusz Perczak, and Markus Butter. Marius Burkert and Stefan Birnhuber conduct.

Performance Dates: Jan. 14-June 21, 2023

Hugo Bettauer and Olga Neuwirth’s “Die Stadt ohne Juden” will be conducted by Nacho de Paz.

Screening Date: Feb. 6, 2023

Roland Kluttig conducts Janáček’s “Katja Kabanova” which will be directed by Anika Rutkofsky. Wilfried Zelinka, Arnold Rutkowski, Iris Vermillion, Matthias Koziorowski, Marjukka Tepponen, Mario Lerchenberger, Anna Brull, and Mareike Jankowski star.

Performance Dates: March 18-May 14, 2023

Verdi’s “Don Carlo” is set to be directed by Jetske Mijnssen. Dimitri Ivashchenko, Aurelia Florian, Otar Jorjikia, and Alessandra Volpe. Roland Kluttig conducts.

Susanne Scholz conducts Rameau’s “Pigmalion” which is directed and choreographed by Annabelle Blanc.

Premiere Date: April 18 2023

Oscar Strasnoy’s ‘Geschichte” will be directed by Lars Braun.

Nino Rota’s “Der Florentiner Hut (Il cappello di paglia di Firenze)” will be directed by Bernd Mottl and conducted by Daniele Squeo. Piotr Buszewski, Tetiana Miyus, Daeho Kim, Anna Brull, Ivan Oreščanin, Andżelika Wiśniewska, Dariusz Perczak, Martin Fournier, Majkend Hasa, Richard Jähnig, Marlin Miller, and Adrián Berthely star.

Performance Dates: May 13-June 23, 2023

Schubert’s “Die schöne Müllerin” will be performed.

Performance Date: June 6, 2023

Schumann’s Szenen aus Goethes „Faust“ will be conducted by Roland Kluttig. Konstantin Krimmel, Tetiana Miyus, and Wilfried Zelinka star.
