Sue Bailey McCoyle

Sue Bailey McCoyle, age 77, of Burnsville, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 15th, 2022 at the home of a son.

A native of Polk County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Effie Bailey.  She was also preceded in death by the father of her children and friend, Daniel “Tater” McCoyle, Jr.; three children:  Dean Bailey, Patsy Conner Russell and Ted Earl McCoyle; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; sister, Donnie May Burnett and brothers:  Lonnie, Leonard, Lloyd, Leland and Isadore Bailey.

Sue was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Polk County.  She had never met a stranger, and had a beautiful, infectious smile that lit up the room.  Sue was a genuine and unique lady whose personality was larger than her stature.  She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew and met her.

Left to cherish her memories are her children:  Preacher Michael McCoyle (Peggy) of Burnsville, Ned McCoyle of Woodfin, Renee Hilerio (Eulogio Hernandez) of Forest City and Clay McCoyle of Mill Spring; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Marthel Moore of Rutherfordton and twin-brother, Alvin Bailey of Rutherfordton.  Several other extended family also survive.

Private services will be held.  Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County.
