WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A chain reaction of crashes early Saturday morning left three people dead. One of them was a 19-year-old who was studying to work with the elderly.

That woman saw the aftermath of the first crash and stopped to help, that's when she was hit and later died at the hospital Monday morning.

"I'm not an emotional person. But I've, this weekend, has torn my guts out,” said Josh Greenman, the uncle of Kaitlyn Greenman.

Josh remembers his niece Kaitlyn as a Christian filled with kindness, love and compassion.

“Just a precious girl. Just sweet and kind and you know, she had a servant's heart."

And that servant's heart could have been what led to her death.

Around 2:00 Saturday morning Wichita police say an SUV hit the median and flipped on Kellogg near Rock Road.

"The way we understand it is she came upon an accident, a rollover accident. She stopped to help,” said Josh.

Police say Kaitlyn saw the crash and pulled over to help the two people inside the car.

That's when a motorcycle carrying two more people hit her and the SUV.

The driver of the bike, a 38-year-old man, died at the scene.

Kaitlyn and the others involved were rushed to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Josh said, "She was just following what she, what she knew to follow through her example, through Jesus Christ. And that's to serve and to love and to think of others first. And, you know, unfortunately, she lost her life doing that."

Josh said his niece was studying at WSU to take care of the elderly.

She loved volleyball and spending time with family and friends.

"Anytime that we start thinking, sadness, like that, all I think about is my brother and his wife and, and their kids. And you can't help but think of your own children and your own family in that situation,” said Josh. “We all try to live like Kaitlyn did. And she lived a life of servitude and faith."

Josh said the family of the driver of the motorcycle who was also killed reached out to them with condolences.

He said they're hoping to do some kind of memorial service to remember both of them in the future.
