It's been over a month since LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers decided to part ways with Frank Vogel. Up until now, the organization has yet to decide on who its next head coach is going to be. There are also no indications that there is a clear-cut frontrunner in the race or that the Lakers are closing in.

As it turns out, the Lakers might be willing to take their time as they continue to search for the perfect candidate. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Sixers coach Doc Rivers and Quin Snyder of the Utah Jazz still remain to be two of the team's top targets:

Rivers has three years left on his Philadelphia contract worth a reported $24 million, while league sources maintain that the Lakers’ coaching search has moved so slowly at least in part because they want to see if Rivers or another coach from the top tier (like Utah’s Quin Snyder) makes it to the open market this offseason. One suspects that, one way or another, Rivers is going to start next season with a good job.

The Lakers have already interviewed a handful of candidates, but as the above report indicates, their progress has been slow. The Sixers have already declared their intention to keep Rivers on board and there appears to be no clear indication that Snyder is going to get fired. However, it seems as though the Lakers are still hoping for some sort of movement with regard to these two coaches.
