News release from the Chambers County Sheriff's Office:
Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on Wednesday, May 11, at approximately 5:27 a.m., Chambers County Deputies were dispatched to the Texas Highway Patrol Office (DPS) located at 20906 Interstate 10, Chambers County, Wallisville, Texas, in reference to a burglary.
Upon arrival, deputies found the two front glass doors were damaged and entry had possibly been made into the building. Investigation revealed numerous items were taken from inside the building. Several items that were stolen were found nearby on the property and along the IH-10 frontage road.
The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division along with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene.
Detectives were able to develop a lead on possible suspects through a traffic stop made earlier in the morning by a patrol deputy. At approximately 8:43 a.m., a Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Sergeant, was dispatched to the area of Apache Run in Wallisville, Texas, in reference to suspicious persons who were walking around the neighborhood. The Patrol Sergeant arrived in the area and located two males walking down the IH-10 feeder road by Apache Run. The two males were detained and identified as 51-year-old Anthaeus Bernard Harris and 44-year-old Michael Anthony Reescano. Both subjects were found to be in possession of firearms along with items stolen from DPS. Harris and Reescano were then taken into custody and transported to the Chambers County Jail without incident.
Harris was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon; Possession of Marijuana; Burglary of a Building; and Theft of a Firearm with bonds totaling $255,000.
Reescano was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon; Tampering with Evidence; Burglary of a Building; and Theft of a Firearm with bonds totaling $280,000.
