Shortly after midnight Saturday Ogle County Deputies, along with Illinois State Police District 1 Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the 8000 block of South Illinois Route 251. The vehicle fled from Deputies and continued traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.
Ogle County Deputies continued to pursue the vehicle until reaching the city limits of Rockford, at which time Ogle County Deputies disengaged the pursuit.
Illinois State Police District 16 Troopers, Winnebago County Deputies and Rockford Police Officers were able to apprehend the vehicle and suspect, identified as 26-year-old Kyle Kirschbaum of Rockford near Perryville Road just south of Guilford Road.
Kirschbaum was transported to OSF Saint Anthony’s Hospital to be treated for his injuries after an accident involving his vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation.
