Lawyers for Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby and the U.S. Attorney's Office for Maryland have both submitted completing timelines as the parties prepare for trial in September, according to newly released court documents.
The U.S. government proposes a more compressed timeline for various deadlines in the case. U.S. Attorney Erik Baron suggests the various deadlines should be finished by the first week of July. Meanwhile, the defense team pushes their final deadline to the week of Aug. 22, the final full week of the month.
All of the dates suggested by the prosecution come before the July 19 primary. Mosby, now in her second term as Baltimore City State's Attorney, has officially filed to run for reelection. If convicted at trial, she would constitutionally be ineligible to serve as the city's top prosecutor.
However, both parties agree on the Sept. 19 trial date.
The prosecution and defense will hold a hearing via telephone to establish a final schedule.
Mosby is facing four federal charges accused of lying on mortgage applications and improperly withdrawing money from her retirement account by falsely claiming COVID-related financial hardships.
