SAS: Who Dares Wins' latest winners have revealed what the show left on the cutting room.

Following six exhausting weeks filled with dangerous challenges and even some defining injuries, the military-inspired show has finally selected its new recruits.

Chief instructor Rudy Reyes confirmed during season seven's finale that Paige Zima and Shylla Duhaney were the ones to pass the selection process, winning the show.

Speaking to Radio Times, the two women revealed that the series opted out of showing to viewers that the action never really stopped, even when the cameras ceased rolling.

In fact, many of the contestants were suffering from "sleep deprivation" due to grueling challenges followed by long night watches.

"You're up every single night to do a night watch," said Paige. "Putting on your wet boots and wet clothes to go and stand on a tower, and the less people that are in, the less sleep you're getting because your shifts are longer as well."

The SAS winner went on to describe their sleep on the show as "horrific", revealing that all contestants were "on edge all the time" – an understandable result given their adrenaline-filled weeks.

"Even when you're going to a location or when you've got like 10 minutes in your accommodation, you're still awake because you need to be alert 24/7."

Duhaney commented that it was also hard for them to describe the experience to the people outside the show who "haven't lived it".

"Your body is just so knackered that you can't switch off," she said. "The slightest noise – you can hear the DS in the background and they'll just be shouting for the sake of it – and then you're on edge.

"There's just no time off."

SAS: Who Dares Wins airs on Channel 4.
