LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — One teenager was killed and another teenager was critically injured in a single-car crash Monday evening.

According to HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster, the crash happened at the corner of Swancott Road and Pryor Road, near the Tennessee River.

Webster said both teenagers involved in the crash were injured and initially in “extremely critical” condition. Both were taken to Huntsville Hospital.

Alabama State Troopers announced Tuesday afternoon that the 14-year-old passenger, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance, later died from their injuries; the 17-year-old driver was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

Air evacuation arrives to assist at the scene of the wreck on Swancott Road and Pryor Road.

Nothing further was made available as the ALEA State Troopers continue to investigate.
