Alvin Gentry staying in Sacramento, takes on new role with Kings
The former associate coach for the Sacramento Kings is staying with the organization but in a new role.
It's been over four months since Alvin Gentry was relieved of his coaching duties. Now he has taken a job in a new front office position, Sacramento Kings officials confirmed to KCRA 3 on Monday.
Gentry's title is now the vice president of basketball engagement and will include team building and helping player evaluations "utilizing his vast basketball relationship network."
Kings officials said he will have in office in Sacramento but would travel throughout the season to different events including NBA, G-League and college events.

Gentry was named as interim head coach in November 2021 after Luke Walton was fired following a disappointing start in his third season in charge. Gentry was then relieved of his coaching duties in April when the Kings finished the season 30-52 and had 16 consecutive playoff losses.
Gentry first joined the Kings as an associate head coach in October 2020.
This month, the Kings announced its new head coach, Mike Brown, who is finishing out the playoffs as the Golden State Warriors assistant coach.
