Chelan County PUD commissioners plan to conduct a noise assessment on the Confluence Parkway Project in June, and have now hired a company to conduct the study.

Commissioners decided last month to get their own noise study for the project after negative response from a PUD survey, and questions about the city of Wenatchee's noise study.

Jacob's Engineering Group from Bellevue was announced Monday as the firm charged with completing the study in June.

The results will them be presented to Chelan PUD commissioners in July.

Some commissioners have complained that the city noise assessment only included noise from tires on the road and not things like loud engines

In addition, the commissioners have to keep in mind Federal Regulatory Energy Commission (FERC) license obligations for environmental and recreational uses

Chelan PUD's license to operate the Rock Island Dam is tied to the utility owning and maintaining certain recreational areas, which in this case is Confluence State Park and the Horan Natural Area, which are adjacent the planned Confluence Parkway road and bridge.
