Special election in Stone County on $19.75M bond issue

Tomorrow, Stone County residents will vote on a $19.75 million bond referendum.

Polls open for the special election from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all the county’s voting precincts. The bond goes to building a new high school as well as an athletic stadium.

If passed, completed construction is expected in two-and-a-half years, located on 85 acres of property directly behind Venture Church on Highway 49 South.

If passed, Stone Middle School will be repurposed to offer pre-K and a Boys and Girls Club.

Taxes would increase for residents. So, for a home or property with an assessed value of $10,000, the increase would equate to approximately $120 per year.
