Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard called out the extensive comments made by Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Patrick Beverley about Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns after they were eliminated from the NBA playoffs.

“what CP do to you?” the Blazers star tweeted Beverley.

Lillard soon followed that question up in a quote tweet where he fired at the Timberwolves veteran.

“Bra on TV acting like his word law. Speaking on private convos and praying on mfs downfall. This weird behavior smh 🤷🏽‍♂️ … I ain’t got a horse in the race.”

Beverley unloaded on Paul during multiple appearances on ESPN platforms such as “Get Up” and “First Take” Monday morning. Among the many comments Beverley made, notably, he said Paul is a “cone” on defense and can’t guard opposing players in the NBA and that he should’ve been benched in the Game 7 blowout loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

Lillard highlighted Beverley’s own style of play after his comments:

Lillard wasn’t the only NBA player to call out Beverley’s comments. On ESPN’s “NBA Today,” former NBA veteran Matt Barnes said Beverley should know his role in the media game.

“We have a job to be critical, but I think there’s a thin line between being critical and disrespecting,” Barnes said. “I feel like what Pat Beverly did today to Chris Paul was completely disrespectful and out of line. And Pat Beverley’s talking like he’s that guy — you’re not that guy. Plain and simple.”

The Suns entered the NBA playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference but saw their season fall short in embarrassing fashion Sunday night. The Mavericks easily cruised to the Western Conference Finals after demolishing the Suns, 123-90.

Paul struggled mightily in the win-or-go-home game. He finished with just 10 points and didn’t score his first basket until the third quarter when the Mavericks had already taken a hold of the game. The Suns trailed by as many as 46 points at home.

It was an ugly end to the season for the Suns, and Beverley was among the many across the NBA world to turn the heat up on Phoenix. Nobody did it in the same fashion as him, though.
