Authorities have released a photo of a suspect in connection with a shooting and ATV theft in Thibodaux early Sunday morning.

Deputies received a call about 3:15 a.m. from a man reporting an ATV had been stolen from a house on Lee Drive, the Lafourche Sheriff's Office said Sunday.

The ATV owner and a family member began driving around the area to search for the stolen vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Office. They found it at Robert Street and Park Drive, where they noticed a man hiding behind a tree. As they approached him, he fired several shots at them

The pair retreated to their vehicle, but one of the men was shot in the shoulder, the Sheriff's Office said. He was later taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans with injuries authorities said did not appear life-threatening.

Though the suspect in the photo has his face covered, authorities are hoping the public can help identify him.

Anyone who can identify the man in the photo is asked to submit an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip at 1-800-743-7433 or online at www.crimestoppersbr.org.
