DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - Douglas County has the seventh highest food insecurity rate in the state of Oregon, according to data from Feeding America.
About 13,000 people get food through the emergency food network in Douglas County every month.
Feeding Umpqua is the organization that stocks local pantries and kitchens across Douglas County.
We went to one of the food pantries they supply to see what items they need.
"Awesome things are raviolis, canned meal items, boxed meals," said Wendy Wilson, Director of Sutherlin Oakland Food Pantry. "Those donations will go directly to Feeding Umpqua, they are our regional distribution center for Douglas County."
Wilson says they also need spices and sugar. The Sutherlin Oakland Food Pantry alone feeds 120 families every month.
Help food pantries like this one by donating to Feeding Umpqua online, volunteering or dropping off food to Feeding Umpqua's onsite drop box.
