Prosecutors said a man was sentenced to prison in Scioto County in connection with the death of a woman who was found on the side of the road and who died from “blunt force trauma.”
Carl Dustin Pistole, 35, of Lucasville was sentenced April 27 to 16 to 21 years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter and robbery, according to a news release from the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office.
Misty Sue Montgomery, 43, was found on Dec. 30, 2020, lying on the side of Robert Lucas Road, just east of U.S. 23 in Lucasville, Ohio. Passing drivers noticed the woman in the road and stopped to help and call 911. Montgomery died shortly after being taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center.
The Prosecutor’s Office said it was determined that Montgomery died from “blunt force trauma,” and investigators from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Scioto County Sheriff’s Office quickly centered on Pistole, who had been seen with Montgomery in the days and hours leading up to her death.
Pistole evaded authorities for several days, but he was captured by law enforcement about one week after her death, prosecutors said.
