One person was killed in a single vehicle crash on I-80 in Reno on May 8.
The crash occurred on I-80 eastbound approaching the I-580 transition ramp in Reno just before 4 a.m.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2009 Pontiac G6 sedan was traveling east on I-80 approaching the I-580 transition ramp in the third travel lane. The Pontiac struck debris, lost control of the vehicle, struck a roadway sign and then a light pole. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Pontiac, identified as 27-year-old Arturo Espinosa of Sparks, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
This crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol Division’s Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - Case #220500481.
