Comeback kids and a second no-hitter Vote for the High School Baseball Player of the Week

Plymouth North High's Francis Comeau has been voted the High School Baseball Player of the Week.

The junior, who received 2,683 votes (54 percent), spun a gem in a 6-0 win over Patriot League foe Quincy. The pitcher allowed just 1 hit in a complete-game effort and struck out 11.

And this week's candidates are:

Jack Keane, Jr., Marshfield: Keane pitched a pair of gems this week in wins over Dennis-Yarmouth (4-0) and Silver Lake (10-2). He opened the week by throwing a 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts against the Lakers. Against D-Y, he tossed a 1-hitter with 9 strikeouts and 0 walks.

Mike Losordo, Sr., Hanover: On Senior Day. Losordo belted his first varsity home run in an 11-4 win over North Quincy. He had 2 hits and drove in 4 runs on the day.

Charlie Walker + Brian Foley, Srs., Milton: Against St. Mary's, Foley improved to 5-0 on the season as he allowed 1 hit over 6 innings with 9 strikeouts. Walker had 2 home runs and drove in 5 RBI in the win. In a 3-0 win over Braintree, Walker tossed a shutout with 11 strikeouts, 2 walks and 6 hits allowed.

Tommy Sullivan, Sr., Plymouth South: Sullivan starred in a 3-2 win over Plymouth North in an 8-inning game. He pitched all 8 innings while strikeout out 12. He added 3 hits at the plate, including the walk-off RBI single.

Aidan O'Donnell, Sr., Abington: Earlier this season, O'Donnell tossed the Green Wave's first no-hitter in 18 years. He didn't wait long to restart that clock as he tossed his second no-hitter of the season in a 2-0 win over East Bridgewater. He struck out 10 in the no-hit effort.

Ben Cashman, Sr., Hingham: Captain Clutch this week. As the Harbormen rallied from a 9-2 deficit, Cashman had a walk-off, 2-RBI single in an 11-10 win over Silver Lake. In another comeback win over Plymouth North (11-9), Cashman had a pivotal 3-run triple. 

Andrew Daley, Fr., Weymouth: In a 7-6 win over Brockton, Daley went 3 for 3. That big day included a 2-run walk-off hit.

Teddy Massingham, Sr., Duxbury: Massingham tossed a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and 2 walks in a 7-0 win over Pembroke.

Kellen Kopp, Sr., Quincy: Kopp had a 2-run, walk-off single in a 6-5 win over Hanover. He was also recently selected as Quincy's Patriot League Scholar Athlete.

Jake Googins, South Shore Tech: As the Vikings rallied back from an 11-3 deficit against Cape Tech to pull out a 14-13 win, Googins starred. He finished with 3 hits (including a 2-run home run), 4 stolen bases and 4 runs scored.

Rockland continued to pose another scoring threat late in the game played on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, but South Shore Vocational's Jake Googins shuts it down with a solid catch in right field to end the inning.

Cole Bohane, Soph., BC High: Bohane belted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to push the Eagles past Catholic Memorial, 9-6, avenging a loss from earlier in the season. 

Evan Cornelius, Jr., Milford: This senior pitched six innings and allowed just one run while striking out 11 in the Scarlet Hawk’ victory over Hopedale.

Jack Gerstein, Sr., Natick: This senior pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out eight as the Redhawks beat Newton North. 

Jake Haarde, Soph., Lincoln-Sudbury: This sophomore went 3-for-4 with  two RBI and was a double shy of the cycle in the Warriors’ win over Bedford.

Liam O’Connell, Jr., Nipmuc: This junior went 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBI in the Warriors’ win over BVT.

Ben Resnic, Sr., Lincoln-Sudbury: This senior threw six innings of one-run ball while striking out in the Warriors’ win over Westford. 

Evan Scully, Sr., AMSA: This senior didn’t allow a hit and struck out nine across five innings of work in the Eagles’ win over Maynard.
