I heard that back in the early 90s, Clyde and Michelle's interracial relationship caused a stir in the community and that Michelle's family viewed the relationship as concerning as Clyde is black.
I'm looking back at early episodes of EastEnders and yet I can't find any instances of all this. Can someone please show me examples of all these stirs and concerns in their interracial relationship. I just want to know.

IIRC, there was a similar story with Michelle and Kelvin Carpenter? Her family were worried about her getting into a relationship with Kelvin because of stigma/prejudice they might face because of his race.

I don't recall that either. Probably based on just one scene or line of dialogue where someone warned the couple they may face problems ahead.

Of course problems did soon arise when Clyde was wrongly accused of murdering Eddie Royle and both he and Michelle tried to flee the country...

@R2Y5A0N2 Seriously??? I'm quite surprised and taken aback at this because from all the clips I've seen of 80s Eastenders, the Beales and Fowlers seem to have gotten along quite well with the Carpenters. Are there any instances or examples of where they are concerned of Michelle's relationship with Kelvin?

I think it was more the Fowlers worrying about what other might've thought, rather than them being against it as they did state that Kelvin was a nice lad.

I can't remember any particular dialogue but I do recall some words from Pauline/Arthur about their concerns at what others might say/think - it wasn't against sinister on the Fowlers behalf as they were friendly with the Carpenters as you have quite rightly said. It was more generalised stigma and prejudice during the 80s.

@R2Y5A0N2 Oh right, thanks for that. I always knew the Beales and Fowlers were Conservatives, but they were never bigots.

I vaguely remember it, I also remember the same with Carmel and Matthew - which I think was before this storyline.

The Fowlers and Carpenters always got on. The only time I ever Tembem them falling out was when 11 year old Cassie smoked one of Mark’s spliffs which understandably caused issues but they were soon resolved

The Fowler’s weren’t conservatives, Wendy Richard specifically refused to perform anti-Thatcher material as she was one in real life
