Investigators from the Maryland Attorney General's office released body camera video of a fatal police shooting in Somerset County that left one man dead.
The shooting happened on April 25, 2022. Investigators say that the Somerset County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call for an armed robbery at a convenience store in Westover, Maryland.
A sheriff's deputy found the man two miles away, according to investigators. At that point, investigators say the man and police exchanged gunfire and the man fled to a nearby field.
Investigators say that officers from the Somerset County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police and the Princess Anne Police Department responded to the area. When they found him, the man fired his handgun again, according to investigators. That's when a Maryland State Trooper and a Sheriff's deputy fired back and hit the man. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
No one else was hurt. A firearm was found next to the suspect.
Investigators identified the man police shot as 24-year-old William Robert Brink of Salisbury, Maryland.
