An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper shot and injured a suspect accused of pointing a long gun at law enforcement Friday in eastern Oklahoma.On Friday, a Latimer County deputy called an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper in the area and asked for help with a violent suspect who broke into a property on Southeast 100th Road in Red Oak, a news release says. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the suspect stole a gun and threatened to shoot a deputy at the scene.When the trooper arrived, authorities said the Latimer County Sheriff's Office told the trooper that the suspect had a long gun and threatened law enforcement. The news release says the suspect pointed the gun at law enforcement when they tried to make contact.The trooper fired his weapon, striking the suspect. Authorities took the suspect to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the news release says.No Oklahoma Highway Patrol personnel were hurt.KOCO 5 has chosen not to release the suspect's name because formal charges have not been filed.
