LAKESIDE, Ore. - Lakeside Mayor James Edwards held a Coffee with the Mayor event Monday morning to meet with residents.
Sherry Kinsey was on hand during Edward's Coffee with the Mayor this morning. She's running to take his place.
Both share very similar concerns particularly beautifying the area by making improvements at county parks within Lakeside and coming up with a plan for homeless camping. Those issues were hot topics at the meeting.
Community members like Shirlee Benell say the county has been slow to respond and sometimes unresponsive when asked about repairs volunteers in the community would like to make to the parks.
Benell also cites structures being erected by campers that could become fire hazards, along with homeless campers blocking boat ramps with RVs, as being growing issues in Lakeside.
Ultimately, the community says it wants the county to be more interested in investing in the area, which brings hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue back to the county.
