The Kansas City Royals announced changes to their coaching staff on Monday. The team made a public announcement of their moves on Twitter.
The most notable change is the release of hitting coach Terry Bradshaw. The move comes as the Royals sit at 12-20 in their regular-season games. The team's offense has struggled mightily thus far in 2022.
Bradshaw, 53, had been the Royals hitting coach since the 2018 season. He spent more than two decades with the team. Bradshaw helped in preparing Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer for major league baseball.
The Royals will replace Bradshaw by having the senior director of player development and hitting performance Alec Zumwalt join the coaching staff. Mike Tosar, a special assistant hitting coach, will join the coaching staff as well.
The Royals have only scored 118 runs so far in 2022, better only than the Tigers, Orioles and White Sox. In a statement from the team, the general manager and majority owner of the team all spoke highly of Bradshaw's time with the team. Each sited a need to adapt and self-evaluate to a changing game.
The Royals continue their season on Monday evening against the Chicago White Sox, the first of a four-game series.
