Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts looking to temporarily fill District 31 legislative seat

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Gov. Pete Ricketts announced Monday that he is seeking applicants to fill former Sen. Rich Pahls’ legislative seat.

Pahls, who represented District 31 in Omaha, died at the age of 78 on April 27.

Ricketts is now looking to fill the vacancy for Legislative District 31.

Applications for the legislative seat will be accepted starting Monday and will be taken until 5 p.m. on May 27.

Those considering applications must prove that they have lived in District 31 for at least a full year, the press release says.

Whoever is appointed to the role by Ricketts will serve until Jan. 3, 2023.

During this year’s general election, voters will elect a member of the legislature to fill the role until the term ends in Jan. 2025.
