Applications for Sacramento’s Racial Equity Council close Monday evening
Monday is the application deadline for residents to join the newly created Racial Equity Council, which will work toward ending racial disparities in Sacramento.
The application closes at 5 p.m. Monday.
If selected, those in the council will spend an average of five to 10 hours per month on the council and will be compensated for their time.
The goal is to find a group of diverse leaders who are already in neighborhoods doing work to end racism and discrimination that hurts communities of color.
Members of the Racial Equity Committee will guide the city to transform how it achieved racial equity.
They will also be the watchdog and hold city officials accountable to make sure government decisions and processes serve everyone.
Racial Equity council members will be selected on June 30.
