(670 The Score) The White Sox have promoted right-hander Johnny Cueto from Triple-A Charlotte, and he’ll start their game at the Kansas City Royals on Monday evening.

Cueto joined the White Sox on a minor league deal in early April. He had a 5.17 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings in four starts at Triple-A Charlotte before getting called up.

Cueto, 36, has a career 3.45 ERA in 14 MLB seasons. He posted a 4.08 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 22 appearances, including 21 starts, for the Giants in 2021.

Chicago optioned infielder Danny Mendick to Triple-A in a corresponding move. He’s hitting .217 in 11 games for the White Sox this season.
