Coroner ID’s shooting victim who died after being driven to area hospital Monday afternoon

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 11:55 a.m. (May 18):

A Dayton man has been identified as the man who was dropped off at an area hospital with a gunshot wound and later died.

Arnold’s cause and manner of death were not released.

Steven L. Arnold, 39, was identified as the man who died at Miami Valley Hospital after a shooting Monday, according to a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Police responded to the hospital around 1:30 p.m. Monday after Arnold was dropped-off in a private vehicle. Arnold later died from his injuries at the hospital.

Officers later located the person who drove Arnold to the hospital and were able to pinpoint the location of the shooting was in the 2900 block of West Third Street.

Police recovered evidence from the scene and the investigation is ongoing, a Dayton police spokesperson said in a previous media release.
