PlayStation Owners Finally Getting A Feature PC Gamers Have Had For Years

Today sure is a big day for PlayStation owners, huh? Earlier, as confirmed in a post on the PlayStation blog, we finally found out all the “free” (in heavy, heavy quotation marks there) titles that Extra- and Premium-tier subscribers will be able to get their hands on when the new, improved PlayStation Plus service launches next month, and there’s some belters. From Demon’s Souls to Red Dead Redemption 2 and many, many more, those willing to splash their cash on the more expensive tiers are sure to be quite handsomely rewarded. 

Well, there’s a reason why that list was quite so chunky. It turns out that Extra- and Premium-tier subscribers are actually getting an additional perk that we didn’t already know about, and all PlayStation owners will be getting a new feature soon, although admittedly the latter’s not exactly a fresh concept. Oh well, better late than never, right?

You read that right - higher-paying PS Plus members will be able to get their hands on the excellent Red Dead Redemption 2 as part of their subscription - take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from the game below.

Drum roll please… it’s been announced that Ubisoft+ is on its way to PlayStation. The service, which is already on PC, Stadia, and Amazon Luna, was also confirmed to be on its way to Xbox, at some point. Now, PlayStation users have found themselves in the same boat - literally the only line given is that it’s coming “in the future”. 

But fear not - remember that perk I mentioned? That’s different. A new twist on Ubisoft+, called Ubisoft+ Classics, will be launching as part of Sony’s shiny new subscription service. Extra and Premium members will have access to 27 Ubisoft titles at launch, including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, For Honor, Far Cry 4 and Watch Dogs, and there’s going to be 50 titles available by the end of 2022.

“With Ubisoft+ Classics, we’re providing PlayStation players with another way to enjoy Ubisoft games on their consoles,” Ubisoft’s senior vice president of partnerships, Chris Early said. “This is just the beginning, as we will ultimately make Ubisoft+ available to PlayStation owners as we continue to build our vision and provide players with more options to access their favourite games, wherever they are.”

Ubisoft+ Classics will become available at the same time as the new PlayStation Plus, so that’s 24 May in Asia (2 June in Japan), 13 June in America, and 23 June in Europe.
