Local News Briefs: Wolfe named to National Junior Honor Society

Wolfe recognized by OCA

Benjamin Wolfe of Cambridge was among 45 Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) students to be recognized for outstanding academic achievement and service to the community. Wolfe, a seventh-grader, was also among 18 OCA students inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, recognizing students in grades 6 through 8.

To qualify for the National Junior Honor Society, students must maintain a 3.25 GPA, complete 10 hours of verifiable community service within the school year, and participate in one or more extracurricular activities or group service projects. Students also must submit letters of recommendation.

Champion Spark Plug retirees meeting

The retirees of U.A.W. Local Chapter 886 will have their May meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Lee's American Restaurant, 2000 E. Wheeling Ave, Cambridge. 

MWCD board to meet

A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 20 at Kent State University Tuscarawas, 330 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia.

Board meeting for OVESC

The Ohio Valley Educational Service Center Governing Board will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Lori's Restaurant, 7020 McConnelsville Road, Caldwell.

Ohio Wesleyan Dean's List

Payne Johnson of Barnesville, and Jay McConkey of Cambridge were named to the spring dean's list at Ohio Wesleyan University.
