The shooting occurred inside the Geneva Presbyterian Church on El Toro Road around 1:25 p.m. Jerry Chen told The Los Angeles Times he was in kitchen inside the church when he heard shots ring out.

“I saw some people fall down or go under the table,” he recalled.
“I knew something was wrong. I called 911.”

The shooting stopped when Billy Chang, the church’s pastor, threw a chair at Chou as Chou reloaded his weapon. That’s when others joined in and hogtied Chou to an extension chord.

Six people were shot, with one pronounced dead at the scene and five others wounded. Four of the victims were hospitalized in critical condition, while a fifth person only suffered minor injuries.

On Monday, an official with Providence Mission Hospital said two of the victims are in stable condition.

The victims’ names have not been revealed at this time. The five wounded victims were described as a 66-year-old man, a 92-year-old man, an 82-year-old man, a 75-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman.

The victim who died was only described as a male.

Deputies are still investigating at this time.
