Loganville Police investigating after murder-suicide at home

Loganville Police said there is no danger to the public.

LOGANVILLE, Ga. — Loganville Police officers are investigating a murder-suicide at a home on Lakeside Court Monday.

Officers responded shortly after 10 a.m. When they got to the location, they found two bodies with gunshot wounds.

Investigators said a witness told police that 31-year-old Clinton George Cunnighman shot and killed 30-year-old Andanae DeShawn Gates, and then died by suicide as officers were arriving on scene.

"The Loganville Police Department would like to acknowledge the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's office for their assistance in this tragic case," according to a statement from Loganville Police.

Loganville Police added that there is no danger to the public. Police said Cunningham and Gates lived together in the house, so this wasn't a random shooting.

A neighbor told 11Alive that they don't usually see gun violence in the area.

"Just heard a lot of screaming, then saw the police come through about 10 minutes later," neighbor Terrence Tamplin said. "It's crazy. Me and my kids live here, wouldn't think nothing like this would happen."

Editor's note: This story has been updated to clarify that police are investigating this case as a murder-suicide.
