STUARTS DRAFT — Virginia State Police said a woman died Sunday from injuries suffered in a crash last week in Augusta County, a press release said.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday (May 10), police responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 340 (Stuarts Draft Hwy.), just north of Gloucester Road in Stuarts Draft.

Police said a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu was headed north on U.S. 340 when a 1996 Toyota RAV4 pulled into traffic from a parking lot. The Malibu couldn’t avoid the Toyota and struck it on the driver’s side.

The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to overturn. The driver of the Toyota, Nancy L. Bartley, 70, of Stuarts Draft, was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. Police said she died Sunday.

The driver of the Malibu, a 19-year-old Stuarts Draft woman, was treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
