A 38-year-old De Soto man suspected of stealing a pickup in Festus recently was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol inside the River City Casino in St. Louis County, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

He said the owner of the 2005 Ford pickup, a 64-year-old man, called Festus Police at approximately 3:50 p.m. April 28 to report the theft. The victim said the pickup was stolen from outside his home in the 700 block of Vine Street.

“He saw the theft on his security camera at about 3:30 p.m.,” Lewis said. “We developed a suspect from the video footage.

“On April 29, about 8 p.m., we were contacted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol who said they were at the River City Casino and found the stolen vehicle in the parking lot. They arrested the suspect in the casino. He had several stolen IDs on him.”

The suspect was arrested and released pending application for warrants.

Lewis said the pickup, which did not appear damaged, was returned to the victim.
