An 18-year-old Onondaga man who was wanted for a hit and run that left a 24-year-old dead and his uncle hospitalized, was arrested Monday after turning himself in to authorities, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say Lyndon McMullen turned himself in to detectives on Monday morning with his attorney present.
McMullen was identified as the driver of an SUV that hit 24-year-old Luis Berrios and his uncle, 65-year-old Benjamin Berrios while they were walking on the side of the road on May 5 in the Town of Onondaga.
Luis was discovered by deputies on the side of the road with significant injuries, and he later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Benjamin was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
McMullen has been charged with murder and leaving the scene of the crash. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
