Family found after being lost in woods overnight

MCINTYRE TOWNSHIP, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A family has been found after going missing in the woods Sunday night in Lycoming County.

According to the Bradford County Communication Center, search crews were looking for three children and two adult hikers that were missing since Sunday night.

The family, including their dog, was found safely and uninjured around 12:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.

According to the Bradford County Department of Public safety, multiple search teams searched the area of Devil’s Elbow Natural Area for the missing hikers. The search started Sunday evening around 7:30, according to the communications center.

The family says they hunkered down during a thunderstorm while hiking on Sunday night. When the storm cleared, they lost their way.

50-60 people assisted in the search, including the Bradford County EMA.
