Welcome to the third installment of the 2022 spring season for the Vermont Varsity Insider Athletes of the Week voting by high school sports fans.

This week, and every week during the three sports seasons, members of the public may vote for a top girls athlete and a top boys athlete (see below for this week's ballot).

How do I cast my vote?

All voting is through the two ballots, . We will not accept votes through email or through social media.

Voting began Monday, May 16, and continues through 11:59 p.m. Thursday.

How do we learn who wins?

The two winners will be announced in a story published at burlingtonfreepress.com on Friday.

Ruth Brueckner, Missisquoi track and field: After racing to wins in the 1,500 and 200 at a Colchester-hosted on Tuesday, the Missisquoi senior continued to showcase a range of athletic ability at Saturday's Burlington Invitational. Brueckner won the 800 (2:17.20) and 200 (26.23), placed third in the 100 (12.90) and nabbed fifth in high jump (4-10.75) to earn the meet's Ian Carroll Spirit Award.

Autumn Carstensen Rice track and field: The senior racked up 23 individual points at Saturday's Burlington Invitational when she won the 300 hurdles (48.61) and placed second in the 100 hurdles (16.10), fourth in long jump (16-1) and sixth in high jump (4-10.75). Carstensen also won four events at Mount Abraham on Monday and scored a goal mid-week as a first-year defensive player for Rice lacrosse.

Sarah Coloney, BFA-Fairfax softball: Coloney tossed four complete games last week, winning three of them. She fanned 10 in a three-hitter while going 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and RBI for the first of two wins over Peoples. And she tossed a two-hitter with 9Ks to blank Williamstown.

Chloe Snipes, Champlain Valley lacrosse: Snipes collected 9 of her 18 goals last week in a 17-6 win over BFA-St. Albans, handing the Comets their first loss this spring. Snipes also had one tally vs. Middlebury, a hat trick vs. Essex and a 5-goal effort vs. Mount Mansfield in a 4-win week for the Redhawks.

Sierra Yates, BFA-St. Albans softball: The Comets' ace guided the defending champs to three big Metro wins last week. She tossed a one-hitter with 9Ks in a 12-0 win over St. Johnsbury, fanned 13 in a complete game while hitting a homer and triple at the plate in an 8-3 decision over rival Missisquoi and picked up a 4-hit shutout with 10Ks in a 12-0 victory over Essex. She also had 2 hits and 2 RBIs vs. the Hornets.

Boys Athlete of the Week nominees

Luke Farley, Stowe lacrosse: The Raiders' attackman registered hat tricks in all three of Stowe's victories last week vs. Brattleboro, Montpelier and Mount Abraham/Vergennes. His third goal vs. Montpelier was the winner and capped Stowe's 8-7 comeback win.

Trevor Lussier, Lyndon baseball: Lussier's big bat helped Lyndon stretch its record to 11-0 after three victories last week. He went 2-for-2 with a double and triple vs. Lyndon, homered twice with a trio of RBIs vs. Thetford and then went deep again in the Vikings' victory over Harwood.

Sriram Sethuraman, South Burlington tennis: In his second year as the Wolves' No. 1 singles player, Sethuraman ran his 2022 record to 9-0 with impressive performances last week that included a flawless 6-0, 6-0 decision over Stowe's top player and a comeback triumph vs. Middlebury's ace.

Winslow Sightler, Burlington track and field: The sophomore standout recorded personal-bests to claim the shot put (54-4) and discus (144-4) at the long-running Burlington Invitational, the regular-season's premier meet.

Travis Stroh, Champlain Valley baseball: Stroh homered, tripled and had 6 RBIs in CVU's 8-3 win over South Burlington to highlight a big week. In three games, Stroh went 6-for-10 with 4 of his 6 extra base hits going for doubles. He also drove in 9 runs and picked up 6 stolen bases.
