8-year-old boy killed in Wise County crash: Virginia State Police

WISE COUNTY, Va. (WCYB) —
An 8-year-old boy was killed in a Wise County crash on Friday, according to Virginia State Police.

Police said a 2015 Hyundai Veloster was going east on South Mountain Road just east of Haddonfield Road. Police said the vehicle went off the road and struck a tree.
VSP said the driver was taken to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries. The 8-year-old boy was taken to Dickenson Community Hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
School officials confirmed that the boy who died was Trey James. He was a second grade student at Wise Primary School.
