Police: Man killed following ‘altercation’ in Roseville, suspects arrested
An investigation is underway after a man was killed following an “altercation” in Roseville, according to police. One man has been arrested.
The incident happened just before 3 a.m. Monday morning in the 100 block of North Sunrise Avenue.
Police confirmed that this is the first homicide of the year for Roseville.
The initial investigation found that the altercation was between two men. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other fled in a vehicle, police said.
By 3 p.m. 21-year-old Andrew Aguiar, of Sacramento, was taken into custody, the Roseville Police Department said. He was booked into the South Placer Jail on murder and assault charges.
On Tuesday, police announced they had also arrested another suspect, 19-year-old Shirley J. Horton of Sacramento, on charges of accessory to a crime.
The hotel was recently transformed into homeless housing in Roseville.
Investigators are going through surveillance videos and interviewing other guests experiencing homelessness to determine what sparked the violence.
