Brad Pitt's Bullet Train, an action movie set aboard a high-speed train going through Japan, looks absolutely bonkers, and has quite the starry cast. It could have been even more bonkers and starry, though, if Lady Gaga didn't have to drop out of the film.
Sandra Bullock replaced Gaga as the character Maria Beetle back in August due to scheduling conflicts, and now director David Leitch has clarified what actually happened that saw her step away from the project.
"It really all came down to her schedule with the Ridley [Scott] film," he told Entertainment Weekly. "There were short discussions and then, this isn't going to work because she was preparing for the Ridley movie [House of] Gucci.
"They shot right before us and overlapped with us and it really didn't work."
But while he confirmed that part of the report, when it came to who Gaga would have played, he coyly said: "I'm going to leave that a mystery."
House of Gucci worked out quite well for Gaga. For her role as vengeful wife Patrizia, she received critical acclaim and we here at Digital Spy said she "commands the screen".
More importantly, she also created plenty of meme-worthy moments during the film's press tour, from believing the real Patrizia sent "swarms of flies" to follow her on set, to getting drunk on the non-alcoholic prop wine, and everything in-between.

Gaga is clearly very busy right now. Earlier this month, she released her latest single 'Hold My Hand', which serves as the theme to the new movie, Top Gun: Maverick.
She is also set to finally embark on the Chromatica Ball Tour in July, playing songs from her sixth studio album Chromatica, which was released all the way back in 2020.
Bullet Train is scheduled to hit UK cinemas on July 29.
