Crash Investigation Leads to Drugs and Weapons Arrest

Delaware State Police arrested Tyree Jordan, 36, of Elkton, MD on drugs and weapons charges following a crash investigation Sunday night.

On May 15, 2022, at approximately 11:38 p.m., troopers responded to the area of 2545 Pulaski Highway, Newark for a single vehicle crash investigation. Upon arrival troopers observed a male subject unclothed standing in the roadway. The subject identified as Tyree Jordan was also determined to be the operator of the vehicle and under the influence of an unknown substance. Jordan was taken into custody without incident and transported to Christiana Hospital for medical treatment. A subsequent search of his vehicle led to the discovery of two loaded 9mm handguns, approximately 2.24 grams of cocaine, approximately 22.87 grams of crack cocaine, approximately .46 grams of methamphetamine, approximately .385 grams of heroin, 10 Alprazolam pills, and over $2,000 in suspected drug proceeds. A computer inquiry also revealed Jordan is a person prohibited from possessing a weapon.

After being released from the hospital, Jordan was transported to Troop 6 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance- 3 counts
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Jordan was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $62,000 cash bond.
