An 18-year-old man wanted by police who accused him of running over two pedestrians intentionally, killing one, has been arrested and charged with murder, Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies said Monday.

Lyndon McMullen, of the town of Onondaga, is charged with second-degree murder and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident in connection with the May 5 incident on Meredith Avenue in Onondaga.

McMullen turned himself in this morning with his lawyer present, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber said in a news release. Authorities had been searching for McMullen.

McMullen is charged with using his white Honda SUV to hit Benjamin Berrios, 65, and Luis Berrios, 24, while they walking in the 100 block of Meredith Avenue at about 4:27 p.m. on May 5, Seeber said.

Deputies said 24-year-old Luis Berrios of Nedrow was discovered on the side of the road with significant injuries after being hit. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he subsequently died from his injuries, deputies have said.

The sheriff’s office said they believe McMullen had an ongoing dispute with Luis.
