A 43-year-old man was shot multiple times but was not critically injured in a shooting in an east Erie neighborhood on Saturday morning.

Erie police had no suspects Monday in the shooting, which was initially reported on Saturday at about 9:35 a.m. in the 2200 block of Warfel Avenue, west of Brandes Street.

Officers were called to the neighborhood to investigate reports of shots fired, and while they were in the area searching for evidence they learned that a man had arrived at UPMC Hamot with gunshot wounds, Erie police Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said Monday.

The 43-year-old man had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but officers were advised that his injuries were not life-threatening, Lorah said.

In a brief interview with police, the man told officers that a vehicle pulled up and a male started shooting at him. Police believe the shooting possibly happened in the 1100 block of East 21st Street, near the 2200 block of Warfel Avenue, according to Lorah.

Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to call Erie police Detective Benjamin Gadsby at 814-870-1338.

Erie police on Monday were also continuing to investigate a suspected shoot-out involving multiple guns that was reported on Friday night on Buffalo Road.

Officers were sent shortly after 7 p.m. Friday to the 1800 block of Buffalo Road, where they found multiple shell casings of different calibers. No one was reported injured and no evidence was found indicating that anything was struck by bullets, according to Lorah.

He said it appears that two different groups were shooting at each other before the suspects fled.

Detectives are following up on the incident, Lorah said.
