GLASGOW — The Barren County Clerk’s Office has released preliminary voter turnout results from last week’s early voting.

Two types of voting were held – early excused and early unexcused. Early excused voting was held May 4 – May 11, and early unexcused was held May 12 – 14.

Of the approximately 1,620 voters, 1,415 voted during the unexcused availability, and 54 voted during the excused. There were 151 mail-in ballots returned as of Saturday evening. The clerk’s office disbursed 191 absentee ballots.

The Kentucky Secretary of State’s office expects about 25% of eligible voters will vote during this year’s primary election.

The primary election in Kentucky is scheduled Tuesday, May 17. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Barren County voters may vote at one of four “voting centers” rather than their familiar precincts. Those locations are Barren County High School’s gymnasium, Haywood Volunteer Fire Department, Austin Tracy Volunteer Fire Department and Cave City Convention Center.

All ballot faces will be available at those voting centers.

WCLU News will carry live election coverage beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m. The broadcast will be available on WCLU 103.1 FM, 1490 AM, Facebook Live and Glasgow EPB’s channel six.
