Moundville Police investigating Saturday shooting at birthday party

Moundville Shooting 3

Moundville Police are investigating after a shooting at a birthday party on Saturday left one person in critical condition and at least four cars riddled with bullet holes.

As first reported in the Moundville Times, the incident happened on Mink Slide Road, just inside Hale County, where Moundville Police Chief Toby Banks said more than 100 people were gathered.

Witnesses told police some people from the Tuscaloosa area showed up during the party, spawning an argument over a dice game. Soon after, one of those men from Tuscaloosa got a gun from his vehicle and shot another man in the upper chest, witnesses said.

After the initial gunshot, other people began firing their own weapons. At least four vehicles were hit by bullets, and Banks said police have recovered at least two dozen shell casings from the incident.

The shooting victim was in critical but stable condition as of Sunday morning, Banks said.

A person of interest has been identified and a warrant is being sought.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Moundville Police Department at 205-371-2218.
