Davante Adams has had a long and successful career in the league so far. After spending years playing with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, he now plays for the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the superstar wide receiver revealed he thought he'd be playing for the Carolina Panthers to begin his career.

According to Sheena Quick, Davante Adams confesses he believed the Panthers were going to select him in the 2014 NFL Draft. During an interview, the current Raiders star revealed that Carolina had been in contact with him the most throughout the draft process. However, when it came down to it, the front office chose Kelvin Benjamin over Adams instead.

That is just a gut punch for any Panthers fans hearing this news. Benjamin was nowhere close to as successful as Davante Adams. Especially considering Kelvin Benjamin isn't even in the league anymore. Carolina could have had Davante Adams and DJ Moore playing side by side with Cam Newton in his prime.

It's always interesting to hear draft stories like this. Unless of course, you are a Panthers fan. Davante Adams ended up falling to the second round of the draft that year, where the Packers selected him 53rd overall. Since then, Adams has been one of the best wide receivers in the league. Now, he takes his talents to Las Vegas where he aims to play a pivotal role in the Raiders' upcoming season.

Hopefully, the Panthers can get back on track soon. There's a sense of belief that Carolina is a quarterback away from becoming a contender once again. The Sam Darnold experiment hasn't panned out so far, but the front office did select Matt Corral in the 2022 NFL Draft. We'll see how it plays out, but this franchise is in desperate need of solid quarterback play.
