Elevated Risk Monday For Field Fires, NWS Warns

WARSAW – The combination of warm temperatures, gusty winds and dry air building over the region is creating an elevated fire danger Monday afternoon, May 16, the National Weather Service said.
Areas which have received little rainfall over the past few days are likely more susceptible to outdoor fires, the weather service said.
The advisory is for Kosciusko, St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, La Porte, Pulaski and Fulton counties.
The forecast for Monday in Kosciusko County predicts sunny conditions and a high near 73. Northwest winds will be 5 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Tonight’s low will be near 48.
Sunny conditions are expected to continue Tuesday when the high will be near 70.
