Jackson, MI – Governor Gretchen Whitmer celebrated the reopening of the East Washington Street bridge in Jackson, the third bridge repaired under the Rebuilding MI Bridges program in partnership with the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The Rebuilding MI Bridges program is a bundling program, which covers several locations under one contract, streamlines coordination and permitting, increases economies of scale, and improves bridge conditions on local routes around the state.

The pilot project is funded by Federal Highway Improvement Program dollars. MDOT bridge staff and consultants are doing preliminary design and construction administration work for the bridge bundling program.

One of the 12 remaining bridges to be rebuilt under this project this year includes Sand Creek Highway…with the project starting on August 1st.
