Corrie always has "main characters" at some point - David, Becky, Carla, Phelan, Michelle ect

Result: Eternal Condemnation, Prison or death
Sounds about right for Corrie.
Saddest thing is that if he dies then the truth about Rana will probably never come out as it would only be Rana's mum who is left in the family. An absolute shocking waste of a storyline that gives out a bad message as Gary's actions resulted in the death of another person.
The main Abi crime is her passed neglect of previous children that were removed from her care
Indirectly responsible for Natasha’s death, Attempted murder or Corey
and arson of Ray’s car
Imran tries to flee with Alfie, car crash, bursts into flames, Alfie is saved but Imran perishes
2 siblings perishing in the most awful, cruellest, gruesome ways possible, a fate neither of them really deserve at all!
All this just to pathetically create a 50p shop Mike Baldwin type villain (PAH-hahahahaha) or to yet again have their darling pet Saint Snoaty-Parker Abi come out on top rewarding even more of her bad behaviour all cos "sHe HaS sUfFeReD ENUFF"!

Exactly. Imran and Rana deserve/deserved so much better from the show. Why two of the best characters are/were being used as scapegoats by the producers is beyond me. I’ll be devastated if Imran’s exit from Corrie is permanent

This is what happens whenever TPTB play "favourites" and put certain characters on a pedestal, other characters end up suffering as a result with what TPTB THINK viewers want or whom they expect the viewers to apparently "root for".
It's way too much and she is not even that likeable. Sally Carman is good but she's not that good.
I am absolutely sick of the sight of Abi and I know many others who are too. She's had what feels like a decades worth of storylines in the last couple of years alone. She needs a long spell in the background if she is to ever be a viable character again.
And this is without mentioning the multiple examples of criminal behaviour with which she's effectively got away with scot-free. It's helped to create a very glib depiction of people struggling with addiction issues imo. As a counter to the way Corrie has dealt with this I would recommend two excellent recent docs that show the real nature of addiction issues:

I am fed up of all this “Abi has been through enough” rubbish TPTB seem to want us to believe is the reason she is a good mother who deserves Alfie. What Abi has been through or ‘deserves’ doesn’t matter as much as who can give Alfie the most stable life. We have seen countless times how Abi goes into self destruct when she reaches a life hurdle. Being mum to Seb, Charlie and Lexie wasn’t enough to make her change. Being Jack’s stepmum and almost adopting him wasn’t enough. So why will Alfie be different? There is no indication he will be.
To be fair Imran could be covered in feathers and tar, wearing nothing but a box made out of sandpaper with a giant bee-hive trapped on his head and he'd STILL look gorgeous!
