Saturday night the Waverly-Shell Rock boys rugby team won the Class 2A State Championship in dramatic fashion. Down by 3 with seconds left on the clock Mikey Santoiemma broke free for a long try as time expired to give the Go-Hawks a 21-17 victory over Ankeny. It was the 4th championship overall and Waverly-Shell Rock’s 2nd in a row.
In Class 1A Waterloo Columbus won the boys rugby championship.
